I have been hard at work on a new website with a new name: Danny Anderson Photography.  I think business names are important as they should describe the company as a whole.  Expedition Archives is a great name yet it strictly implies a photography company that photographs only adventure sports and, well, expeditions, and those are only a couple types of photography that interest me.  I have compiled all my work into this new site and I am very excited to be announcing it.  You can view the site here.  Please explore the site and feel free to email me or comment on this post with your thoughts as the site undergoes further modifications and adjustments.

This Expedition Archives site will remain available for a brief time and will eventually forward to my new site.  It is likely that Expedition Archives will become a section of Danny Anderson Photography in the future.

The South Side

The South Side on Peak 10 at Breckenridge is an area of the mountain that I haven’t skied very much.  Today I skied it all day with Ryan Slubowski and my sister Shannon.  Breck had received 8 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and we had a great time tearing it up!

Peak Seven at Breckenridge CO

I spent the day today with my sister Shannon (alpine skier) and our buddy Ryan Slubowski (telemark skier).  Ryan is a sophomore at South Park High School and Shannon is a Freshman.  Both are amazing skiers so they make for great subjects in front of my lens.  There was some fresh snow on the ground and it dumped all day.  It was a great day on the hill and we are looking forward to many more!

HDR Sunset

Use of HDR can make sunset pictures something really spectacular because it helps bring out all the colors and it boosts the contrast dramatically.  This was a quick shot from my porch using 3 exposures at -2, 0, and +2.

Lightning Strikes

Since 1,000 Peaks Ranch in Colorado is wide open with no trees, the photos of lightning that can be taken are incredible.  These two images were taken in Bulb (B) exposure mode as it allows you to keep the shutter open as long as the shutter release is held down.  It is critically important to use this mode when shooting lightning because it is next to impossible to get a lucky shot with a short shutter speed.  All I did was point the camera in the right direction…

SPMS Basketball

I have recently been shooting basketball at South Park Middle School.  Our teams have been doing very good, and I have been able to get some very nice photos.1.24.13

I have even gotten the opportunity to borrow a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM from Tricia Lane, a fellow photographer.  It has been an amazing experience as it is the lens that has been on top of my photography wish list.  The shot above is one I took with the 70-200.

I have been having a good time using different effects and filters in Nik’s Color Efex Pro 4 and Silver Efex Pro 2 which is what you see in the photos on this post.Brian 2Cole 1PiperRandy 1Samantha

11 Mile Canyon

WOW…is about all I can say about this place!  We came here for a short time in the afternoon to check the place out and dabble in a bit of climbing.  Driving in was incredible, we drove through 3 rock tunnels all alongside a river where many were fly fishing.  I can’t wait to come here to camp and really get into some climbing!  We didn’t get into too much climbing but we did get to rappel of a small rock.
